Wazu, Self Titled?- CD Review

Published on 27 May 2012 by in Album Reviews

I don’t know… it just has 3 songs. I think they may have potential. Brought me back to Clash nights at Ten Bells in Grand Rapids. “Electro-Glam music for the dance floor” is an accurate description. Very Duran Duran. Very 80s synth-pop. 3 songs- Murder 1 Happy Endings Walk All Night My favorite was “Happy Endings.” I just loved the lyrics; “happy endings don’t have room for two.” Get

Engloria, Drive EP- CD Review

Published on 27 May 2012 by in Album Reviews

Again, first I tried to review Matthias Sturm, Blood and Thunder. I hated it. His voice is weird, and it sounds like he wishes he was The Beatles. You won’t like it if you like The Beatles. This time I found something better on the 2nd try. Engloria is a pretty good alt rock band. Lots of energy, good vocals. Reminds me a lot of bands like Better Than

Black Earth, Pink Champagne- CD Review

Published on 27 May 2012 by in Album Reviews

So, in laziness I decided to review some of this stack of CDs that is pilling up on my end table. I started with Hillbilly Vegas, Ringo Manor, but my computer didn’t want to play it. I took that as a sign. Then I tried a self-titled CD by Orly, and it made me want to throw up. Folk, with a female vocals… but the female vocals were just

In order to find out you will need to watch “Truth About Kerry.” This riveting film can be found through MVD.

It’s Unauthorized, but it’s “The Story of Rock N’ Roll Comics”

Published on 26 May 2012 by in Film Reviews

Shocking, true… unauthorized. Who was publisher Todd Loren? Sure, he was murdered in ’92, but before then he p*ssed off many a rock star with his unauthorized comic book biographies. Some bands even had lawsuits out against him; G n’ R, Bon Jovi. The biggest draw for me, watching this documentary, was Alice Cooper being in it. There were more people in it, some interesting home videos and more.

JAWS Parody is Almost Porn

Published on 26 May 2012 by in Film Reviews

What do you get when you mix puppets that are horny and mermaids that eat people? A crazy movie that only really bored, or really horny, people will like (but likely still won’t enjoy). The movie I am talking about is called “GUMS.” This is a new release from MVD. The back of the DVD says “You must see this movie to believe it,” and I would have to

Foxy Shazam at the Intersection, Grand Rapids, 04.29.12

I arrived late, just in time for the main attraction: Foxy Shazam. I caught a bit of Maniac, who was quite the entertaining group of people. They were eccentric and the music was lively, plus one of the two singers kept doing something I could only describe as warbling. They were good though, I would definitely want to see them again when I have more time. It was fascinating
