Paper Zoo, wow this is an off the wall concept. Can you imagine a band right now in 2009 that can mix the Magical Mystery era of the Beatles, 70Ős Brian Eno, any era of Frank Zappa and pull it off? These guys take these influences (in my opinion) and create something totally unique to this day and age. This completely lights a match and sets fire to the established machine that currently churns out music for the radio that drones on and on. This Hollywood band seemingly comes from a different era and this 5 song EP is crazy for it. Paper Zoo kicks off the EP and invites you to join them and I think you should. I did once I saw them live at the Viper Room, at first listen I was sold. Hollywood Recluse talks an oh so familiar story about Hollywood actresses and it takes a dark dive into the seedy side if you will. The music is well orchestrated chaos , you do not know where it is going next. Laughing Legba and Black Cat is more psych that trips the senses and sends you reeling. Paper Zoo takes you on a musical trip that does not bring you back . The Sun closes the debut out with driving riffs, keys and impassioned vocals that they produce so well. Are you mystified yet? Once you check what they have to offer you will be.
