Jimmy Eat World @ The Intersection, Grand Rapids

Published on 16 June 2011 by in Live, Music

I thought I arrived in plenty of time, but alas, no… I just missed the South African based band, Civil Twilight.  They played promptly at 8:30, which will teach me to not wait so long after doors at the Intersection on a weeknight.  After the disappointment had settled and 9 PM was firmly on the clock, the activity began to quickly clear the stage for the headliner to take

Reverend Horton Heat & Reverend Petyton’s Big Damn Band @ The Intersection, Grand Rapids

Published on 16 June 2011 by in Live, Music

There are some things in this world you just have to see, whether you can conceive of it or not… and seeing a washboard lit on fire then smashed against the stage is just one of those things.  Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band took the stage and dominated it.  The three-piece band was not only visually impressive, but their talents were far reaching. Reverend Peyton himself was both

Matisyahu at The Intersection, Grand Rapids

Once again I find myself gearing up for what I love: a good live show. I found myself a few days before thinking of coming out, but was still sure. By chance, the love of one of The Meanwhile’s tickets found its way to me and my mind was made up. I find myself, having heard of Matisyahu and still not knowing too much about him. Me wanting to

Fear Factory at The Intersection, Grand Rapids

Published on 22 June 2010 by in Live, Music

The Intersection, 27 May 2010 Who needs a sauna when you can go to a metal show? Leaving covered in (what, by that time had to be) mostly other people’s sweat only heightened the experience of the Fear Factory show at The Intersection on May 27th. Kicking off the evening was local openers Page 66. “Brutal” was the word being thrown around all night to describe their set, myself

Helmet, The Last Vegas at The Intersection, Grand Rapids

It’s been quite a while since Grand Rapids has been fortunate enough to see Helmet on stage; 18 years to be exact. Needless to say, fans new and old were more than thrilled when Helmet tore up the stage March 20th at The Intersection. Like any other band, Helmet has had its fair share of setbacks; for only having one of the original founding members in the band, Helmet

Hatebreed: Interview with the Band

Amanda: How did Hatebreed come together? Matt: The band formed in ’95, some of the older cats would say ’94. It started out with a couple of dudes jamming in Bridgeport Connecticut – from then to now, the line-up has changed a bit, we’ve gone through a couple drummers, and a few guitar players, but the band’s been going pretty strong regardless- So far we’ve done four albums plus
